Centara Ras Fushi & Spa Maldives: Complete Resort Guide

A Maldives holiday can be very simple. You land in Malé, get on a boat, reach your island and then spend the next few days deciding whether you actually want to leave the beach.

That is more or less the idea behind Centara Ras Fushi.

The resort sits in North Malé Atoll and is made for adults only. There are 140 villas, with both beach and overwater accommodation available. The island is not far from Velana International Airport either. The resort says the speedboat journey takes around 15 minutes, which is handy when you have already spent several hours travelling from India.

But a short transfer is not the only reason to look at this resort. The house reef is close to the beach, there are several places to eat, diving and water sports are available, and there is a proper spa on the island. So you can make the trip as active or as lazy as you want.

A quick look at Centara Ras Fushi

Centara Ras Fushi is an adults-only Maldives resort, so the atmosphere is naturally more suited to couples. Each villa is designed for two adults.

The resort has a mix of accommodation, restaurants, bars and activities rather than being a property where you simply stay in your room and use the beach. That distinction is useful when comparing resorts for a Maldives trip because every island has a slightly different setup.

The location also works in its favour. You are close enough to Malé to reach the resort by speedboat instead of taking a seaplane or another domestic flight.

For some people, that will be a minor detail. For others, especially after a long flight, it can make the arrival much easier.

Reaching the resort from India

Your journey will normally look like this:

India → Velana International Airport, Malé → Speedboat → Centara Ras Fushi

Once you reach Malé, the resort's speedboat transfer takes you across to the island. The ride is around 15 minutes under normal conditions.

When planning a Maldives tour from India, don't look at the flight price alone. Check the resort transfer as well. Maldives bookings often have additional costs for transfers, taxes and meal plans, and these can change the final holiday budget quite a bit.

Which villa should you book?

This is where the choice becomes more personal.

A beach villa gives you the sand right outside your accommodation. It is straightforward, comfortable and makes sense if you expect to spend most of your time outside anyway.

An overwater villa is a different experience. You get the lagoon directly in front of you and that classic Maldives setting people usually have in mind when they start looking at island resorts.

If this is your first Maldives vacation, an overwater villa can be tempting. Just keep in mind that you are paying partly for the location and experience, not simply for a bigger room.

The better question is: How much time will you actually spend in the villa?

If the answer is “not much”, spending the extra money on an overwater category may not be the best use of your budget. If relaxing on the deck, looking over the lagoon and having a slower morning is one of the main reasons you are going, then it can be worth it.

The house reef is a real advantage

One detail that deserves more attention is the resort's house reef.

It is roughly 20 metres from the beach. That means you do not necessarily need to book a boat trip every time you want to see what's in the water. You can simply head towards the reef and snorkel.

There is also a PADI dive centre at the resort. Experienced divers can look at organised dives, while beginners can enquire about introductory options.

Water sports are available as well, and surfing is offered seasonally.

So if you and your partner are the type who get bored after two days of lying beside a pool, there is enough happening here to break up the lazy afternoons.

What is there to do besides snorkelling?

Quite a lot, although you don't need to turn the holiday into a checklist.

You can spend a morning around the lagoon, try a water activity in the afternoon and leave the evening for dinner. Another day might be mostly about the spa.

The resort has SPA Cenvaree, along with a fitness centre and pools. There are also organised activities and excursions depending on what is available during your stay.

And honestly, doing nothing is also part of the Maldives experience.

You don't have to book an excursion every day just because you have travelled this far. One of the better parts of an island holiday is having a completely empty afternoon.

Food at Centara Ras Fushi

Food becomes important on a Maldives holiday because you are not going to walk outside the resort and find a street full of restaurants.

Centara Ras Fushi has several dining options, which gives you some variety during a longer stay.

Oceans serves international and Asian food and is one of the main dining venues.

Suan Bua focuses on Thai cuisine, while Al Khaimah offers Middle Eastern and Arabian-style dishes.

There are also bars around the resort, including Viu Bar and Waves Pool Bar.

Having different cuisines available is useful if you are staying for five or six nights. Even a good restaurant can start feeling repetitive when it is your only option every day.

Half board, full board or all-inclusive?

This part deserves a little calculation before you book.

Centara Ras Fushi currently has meal plans including Half Board Plus, Full Board Plus and Premium All-Inclusive.

The cheapest option is not necessarily the cheapest overall holiday. Think about your normal routine. Do you eat three proper meals every day? Do you drink much at the resort? Are you planning excursions that take you away from the island?

For a couple travelling on a Maldives package from India, knowing the meal-plan details beforehand makes it much easier to work out the actual trip cost.

Also compare what each plan covers rather than choosing based only on the words “all-inclusive”. The inclusions matter.

A Maldives honeymoon at Centara Ras Fushi

The adults-only setup is probably the biggest reason honeymoon couples consider this resort.

There is no need to plan anything complicated. Spend some time in the villa, go swimming, have lunch, take a spa treatment and save the evening for dinner.

For a Maldives honeymoon, you can also arrange private dining experiences. The resort offers options such as candlelight dinners and private dining setups.

It is worth deciding how much privacy you actually want before spending extra on these experiences. Sometimes a normal dinner followed by a walk along the beach is just as enjoyable.

How long should you stay?

I'd look at 4 to 5 nights as a practical starting point.

Four nights is enough for a short break. You can enjoy the island, spend time in the water, try a couple of restaurants and still have a relaxed schedule.

Five nights gives you a little more breathing room. You can have a day where you do absolutely nothing without feeling like you have wasted half the holiday.

Going for a week can work too, especially if you genuinely enjoy resort holidays. But if you are combining the Maldives with another destination, a shorter stay may make more sense.

When should you visit?

The Maldives is warm throughout the year, but the weather changes with the monsoon seasons.

November to April is generally preferred by travellers looking for drier conditions. May to October can see more rain and wind, although weather is not perfectly predictable and a rainy-season trip does not mean it will rain all day.

Prices also move with demand.

If you have flexibility, compare a few dates before booking your Maldives tour from India. Sometimes changing the travel dates by even a few days can make a noticeable difference to flight and resort prices.

• Check-in and check-out timings

• Diving and water-sports costs

• Any special honeymoon inclusions

• Transfer arrangements based on your flight

The transfer is particularly important. The resort currently lists its speedboat transfer separately on its accommodation information, so check the latest rate and booking terms rather than assuming it is included.

So, should you choose Centara Ras Fushi?

If you want an adults-only island, a short transfer from Malé and easy access to the water, Centara Ras Fushi has a pretty convincing combination.

The house reef is close. There are enough restaurants to keep meals interesting. You can book a beach villa or go for the overwater experience, and there is a spa when you feel like doing something other than swimming.

It is not necessary to spend every hour planning activities. That would almost defeat the purpose of coming to the Maldives.

Choose the villa according to your budget, compare the meal plans properly and check the transfer cost before you book. After that, leave some space in the itinerary.
